Co-founder of Swedish Amnesty International resigns over scandalous report on AFU

    WORLD  10 August 2022 - 15:20

The co-founder of Amnesty International in Sweden, Per Westberg, has announced his withdrawal from the organization due to his disagreement with the report on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Westberg criticized the report on Ukraine, Svenska Dagbladet informs.

He decided to leave the human rights organization after almost 60 years of work.

"I have been a member of the organization for almost sixty years. It is with a heavy heart that I am ending my long and fruitful collaboration because of Amnesty's statements regarding the war in Ukraine," he said.

Per Westberg was one of the co-founders of the Swedish department of Amnesty International, which was formed in 1964.

Recall that on August 4, the human rights organization Amnesty International published a report accusing the Ukrainian Armed Forces of establishing bases near schools and hospitals.

The report was harshly criticized in Ukraine and around the world.
