Azerbaijan to turn to UEFA over Armenian provocations during Champions League match

Azerbaijan's Football Federations Association (AFFA) will turn to UEFA over Armenian provocations recorded during a Champions League match.

The head of the AFFA press and public relations department, Firuz Abdullah, made the remarks in an interview with Report, commenting on the provocation of Armenian fans at the game between Pyunik (Armenia) and Sverna Zvezda (Serbia) in the third classification stage of the UEFA Champions League.

"AFFA has been informed about the provocation against Azerbaijan in Yerevan... In accordance with the legal procedures, AFFA will send an appeal to UEFA in due course. A letter will be sent to UEFA during the day," he said on August 11.

At the match on August 9, Armenian nationalists held posters with English inscriptions "Karabakh is Armenia", "Kosovo is Serbia". In addition, one of the fans ran onto the field with a poster on which it was written in Armenian "We will not give up Aghavno (Lachin District's Zabukh village)."

The village of Zabukh was occupied in May 1992. Armenians living there have been warned about the need to leave the village due to the fact that an alternative road to the Lachin corridor has already been built.
