Slovakia to supply weapons to Ukraine despite Russian efforts to foil this
    Statement by minister

    WORLD  18 August 2022 - 15:24

Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad has stated that Bratislava will continue to provide military support to Ukraine despite Russia's efforts to sway public opinion in Slovakia.

According to the minister, not a large number of Slovaks support this government initiative because of Russian propaganda activity in his country, which is making significant efforts to obstruct the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, EuroNews reports.

"Russian propaganda is doing everything possible to change the mood of the population to stop or block the further transfer of military equipment to Ukraine, but the government has certainly decided to continue this process because we need to help Ukrainians – they deserve it, and we understand very well what the occupation is," he said.

According to GLOBSEC research, only half of Slovaks support the initiative to sell Bratislava's fighter fleet to Ukraine.
