Shusha celebrates 190th anniversary of outstanding poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan

Shusha hosts an event on the 190th anniversary of poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan, an outstanding representative of Azerbaijani art.
According to Report, an exhibition dedicated to the poetess was opened in front of the Karabakh Hotel before the event.
Then an event entitled "Mejlisi Uns" opened in front of the house of Natavan.
The anniversary event is attended by officials, cultural representatives, writers, and poets, as well as guests from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The host of the event is Azerbaijan Writers' Union's secretary for creative affairs, poet, and writer Ilgar Fahmi. Speakers at the event include Minister of Culture Anar Kerimov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Union of Writers, people's writer Anar Rzayev, vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences, and general director of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature. The speeches will be made by Anar Kerimov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Union of Writers, people's writer Anar Rzayev, vice president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, general director of the Nizami Ganjavi Literature Institute, academician Isa Habibbayli, general director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, academician Rafael Huseynov, a senior research fellow at the Mohammed Fuzuli Manuscripts Museum, academician Rafael Huseynov. Doctor of Philology, Professor Ragub Kerimov, and others.
Poems will also be performed by poets of Turkic-speaking countries.
Khurshidbanu Natavan Javanshir-Usmiyeva was born on August 6, 1832, in Shusha. Natavan is the daughter of Mehdigulu Khan Javanshir, the last Khan of Karabakh, and the granddaughter of Ibrahimkhalil Khan. Natavan died on October 2, 1897, and is buried in the Imarat cemetery in the Aghdam district.
