Azerbaijan sends letter on Armenia to International Court of Justice
Due to criminal actions of Armenia
POLITICS 22 September 2022 - 19:14
Azerbaijan sent a letter to the International Court on September 22.
APA reports this referring to Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov.
According to him, the letter covers information proving that Armenia has not complied with the provisional measures determined by the decision of the International Court of Justice of December 7, 2021.
“This includes Armenia's efforts to prevent the return of Azerbaijani internally displaced persons to their homes. The facts show that after the tripartite statement of November 10, 2020, Armenia planted 1300 mines in areas liberated from occupation, for example, in Lachin. This hinders the safe return of internally displaced persons,” the Deputy Minister underlined.
Elnur Mammadov noted that after the signing of the tripartite statement, there were no military operations in these territories. The placement of mines there is only aimed at preventing the return of former internally displaced persons: “Since 2020, more than 240 Azerbaijanis have been killed or injured as a result of mine explosions in the liberated territories.
Armenia also failed to comply with the requirement of the International Court of Justice to stop inciting racial discrimination and propaganda against Azerbaijanis. In addition, while we provided many examples to their attention, no action was taken against hate speech and violence by paramilitary groups. We hope that the International Court of Justice will make an appropriate decision for the violation of the court decision by Armenia.”
