Türkiye increases export of Anka, Aksungur UAVs
REGION 23 September 2022 - 15:38
Türkiye plans to increase the export of domestic drones Anka and Aksungur in the near future.
The company Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii (TUSAŞ) presented aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and satellite platforms of its own production at the exhibition in South Africa, and also held a series of meetings with potential customers, Anadolu reports.
Deputy Director-General of Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii (TUSAŞ) Omer Yildiz told Anadolu that the company continues to modify its own unmanned aerial vehicles.
"The Kuzgun field tests have been completed. Probably, the integration of the ammunition will be completed within a month, and it will be used in the field. The Kayı ammunition, also developed by TÜBITAK SAGE, is awaiting its turn for integration. After Kuzgun, we will start working on Kayı. In addition, work is underway on LGK ammunition (laser guidance system), developed by ASELSAN, and miniature bombs. They will also be integrated into Aksungur," he said.
Yildiz also reported on the development of a supersonic target aircraft. According to him, the plane is ready, and work on the engine continues.
"Within six months, the Şimşek target aircraft weighing about 200 kg and capable of flying at a speed of Mach 0.8 will be ready. The work is being done very quickly. The aircraft in particular will be used for testing Turkish air defence systems. We will complete the work in six months," he said.
According to Yildiz, the Turkish PD170 engine is already used on the Aksungur UAV, and in the near future, it will be integrated into Anka.
