Türkiye says its policy contributes to global stability
REGION 26 September 2022 - 12:56
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that the ongoing developments in the modern world can safely be called a period of uncertainty, and global changes must be taken into account.
The war in the centre of Europe shakes the balance of power in the world, and exacerbates the contradictions between the leading powers, Anadolu Agency quotes him as saying at a meeting with Japanese media representatives in Tokyo.
The minister noted that Türkiye currently speaks both with the West and with the East, which is very important.
"Türkiye is one of the rare countries that continue the dialogue with Russia," Cavusoglu underlined.
According to him, humanity lives in a multipolar world, and contradictions are manifested not only in Europe but also in the Asian region, a vivid example of which is the latest events in Taiwan.
“Unfortunately, the current international system is unable to respond to the challenges of our time. Instead of a cooperation platform, there is active competition and struggle,” the minister noted.
The top Turkish diplomat said that Ankara's policy contributes to stability throughout the world, a clear example of which is Türkiye's efforts in Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the South Caucasus and Ukraine.
Along with "soft power", Türkiye uses hard leverage which increases the effectiveness of Ankara's actions, Cavusoglu noted.
"For example, in Syria, we not only provide humanitarian assistance to those in need, but we are also waging a resolute fight against terrorism," he concluded.
