President: Armenia continues terror, aggression policy against Azerbaijan
KARABAKH 05 October 2022 - 12:25
President Ilham Aliyev has said that Armenia continues its policy of terror and aggression against Azerbaijan.
He made the remarks at the first-ever National Urban Forum, which was held in the city of Aghdam on October 5, Caliber.Az reports.
"Armenians have planted more than one million mines during the times of occupation. And this policy of terror against Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis continues. Relatively, recently we have discovered and neutralised more than 1,400 mines, which have been planted in Lachin District by the Armenian Armed Forces in the period after the second Karabakh war ended [in November 2020]. So, aggression against Azerbaijan, terror against Azerbaijan continues," the president said in his address to the forum.
Aliyev underlined that Azerbaijan suffered a serious humanitarian crisis due to Armenian occupation.
"As a result of Armenian aggression and occupation, more than one million Azerbaijanis were totally ethnically cleansed from their native lands in Karabakh, in Zangazur and also in today's Armenia. When it happened, the population of Azerbaijan was less than eight million people. Can you imagine, one million became refugees and IDPs," he said.
The president expressed his gratitude to international organisations, especially UN institutions for supporting Azerbaijani refugees and IPDs so far.
The two-day forum on October 5-6 presents Azerbaijan's achievements in sustainable urban development, including in the territories liberated from the long-term Armenian occupation in autumn 2020, calls for expanding international cooperation in this area, exchanging experience in the smart and inclusive development of urbanization, discussing issues of restoring the settlements destroyed during, etc.
