Nizami Ganjavi International Centre members have met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss the latest global challenges.

President of the 73rd and 75th UN General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa also attended a special meeting held within the framework of the 9th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in the Moroccan city of Fas in partnership with the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre, along with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Co-Chair of the Centre Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Volkan Bozkyr, ex-President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanich, ex-President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, ex-President of Bulgaria Petr Stoyanov, ex-President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers, ex-Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer, former Secretary General of the Arab League Amre Musa, former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, former Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia Eka Tkeshelashvili, etc, Report informs.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the latest developments and international challenges facing the world. An agreement was reached on the regular holding of this meeting. The secretary-general was also informed about the Global Baku Forum held by the centre, about cooperation with the UN Alliance of Civilizations, etc.

The secretary-general was presented with the book "Magic of the Pen" specially published by the centre - selected manuscripts of Nizami Ganjavi's "Khamsa [Five]".

The Nizami Ganjavi International Centre was established at a special meeting held in Nizami Ganjavi poet's hometown of Ganja as part of the 870th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet on 30 September 2012.

Continuing its activities with President Aliyev's support, this international non-governmental organization brings together former heads of state and government, foreign ministers and prominent international scholars from more than 50 foreign countries.

The main governing body is the Board of Trustees, which consists of influential public and political figures from around the world. The board includes 18 former leaders. The centre also includes 53 prominent members from 25 countries in Europe, six from three countries in the Americas, 15 from 12 countries in Asia and five from four countries in Africa.
