German defence industry raises alarm as army stocks equipped for only 2 days of war

Military experts have repeatedly warned that Germany's arms stocks are not being sufficiently restocked amid its military assistance to Ukraine and have now reportedly reached a level where the country has enough weapons for only two days in the emergence of a serious military situation.

This latest statistic had been voiced at a special meeting organized by the Chancellor's office with representatives of Germany's defence industry, according to the German RND. The German media recorded with surprise that Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht was not in attendance.

"After Chancellor Scholz's announcement [on February 27] of a 'Zeitenwende' [a point in time for great changes] the government has requested price offers from 250 military contractors for ammunition, spare parts and other military equipment. To this day barely anything has been ordered", the publication noted.

It also recalled on the fact, that according to NATO policy, member states have to keep an adequate stock of weaponry to be equipped for 30 battle days, with German experts having now calculated that the country was ready for only two days. Military expert Thomas Wiegold, who has given an interview to the WELT, the meeting did not yield great results.
