Azerbaijan, Belarus reliable partners - envoy

Azerbaijan is our reliable and most important partner, not in words, but in deeds.

Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Andrei Ravkov made the remark in an interview with the daily newspaper "Novoye Vremya," Report informs quoting BELTA.

"The economic sphere has always been and remains at the forefront of our partnership, as it provides a real, tangible, and mutually beneficial result for both sides. A practical confirmation of this is the steady growth of trade which totaled almost $1 billion last year alone," said the diplomat.

He drew attention to the fact that this year there has also been a growth in trade in major commodities. It is particularly important that there is almost parity between the volumes of exports and imports. "Import of fruit and vegetable products from Azerbaijan to Belarus plays a significant role. For instance, only the purchase of tomatoes has tripled this year," said Andrei Ravkov, adding that cooperation of Belarusian machine builders with the Ganja automobile plant has become a significant project for both countries, which shows an excellent example of effective cooperation in the industrial field.

"Over 12,000 tractors 'Belarus' and about 4,000 units of other Belarusian machinery have been assembled at Ganja over 15 years," the head of the diplomatic mission said.

The ambassador noted that a corresponding protocol was signed in June, following the results of the 12th session of the intergovernmental commission, "which has resulted in further cooperation in the entire spectrum of bilateral trade and economic relations and the introduction of new mutually beneficial projects".
