Cavusoglu: Russian deputy FM to visit Türkiye for political consultations

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin will visit Türkiye this week to participate in political consultations.

Commenting on the effectiveness of the "grain corridor", Cavusoglu noted that there are no problems with the supply of agricultural products through the Black Sea, Anadolu reports.

According to him, Türkiye and Russia closely cooperate in the region not only on the issue of Ukraine and the "grain corridor", but also in other regions, including Libya and Syria.

Cavusoglu recalled that a regular meeting on Syria was held in Astana a few weeks ago. At the same time, the decision on the ninth meeting of the Constitutional Commission of Syria has not yet been made.

"Russia, as we know, refuses to participate in the discussions, motivating its position with problems with issuing visas to Switzerland. We are discussing alternatives. At the same time, we consider it necessary to accelerate the political process on Syria, which is especially important for long-term stability," the Turkish minister said at a joint press conference with his Moldovan counterpart Nicu Popescu.

Cavusoglu noted that although the positions of Türkiye and the Russian Federation do not coincide on all issues, the consideration of positions remains.
