Top Azerbaijani cleric: Revanchism in Armenia doesn't subside
POLITICS 08 December 2022 - 17:15
Moscow hosts the XVIII International Muslim Forum in honor of the 1,400th anniversary of the Hegira of Prophet Muhammad and the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the people of Volga Bulgaria.
Religious leaders, representatives of the academic community, and high-ranking political and public figures from 30 countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and others became guests and participants of the forum on the topic "Justice and Moderation: Divine Principles of World Order", Report informs referring to Azertag.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Office, said in his speech at the forum that at a time when Azerbaijan calls for peace in the region and comes up with economic projects, the revanchism in Armenia has not subsided.
"The involvement of the Armenian church in this process is regrettable. During the conflict, thanks to the trilateral dialogue between the religious leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, it was possible to prevent the transition of the conflict to the religious level. On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I express my deep gratitude to my wise brother Patriarch Kirill for these services in the direction of peace. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all my colleagues, who support the righteous cause of Azerbaijan, in particular, to my brother Ravil Gaynutdin, the head of Russian Muslims," the CMO chairman said.
It should be noted that the forum will also hold the V International Scientific Conference "Gasprinsky Readings" on the theme "Religious dialogue as a necessary factor for the development of interfaith and intercultural harmony", a round table "Justification of civilizational pluralism in the context of the Abrahamic interpretation of moderation and justice," the presentation of books and projects of Medina Publishing House in honor of the 15th anniversary of the publishing house.
On December 9, as part of the forum, the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia will host the opening of the exhibition "Gardens of Islam. The light of faith through the centuries", highlighting the main milestones in the history, major events, and personalities of the Russian Muslims.
Also on a blessed Friday afternoon, guests and participants of the forum will visit the Moscow Cathedral Mosque to take part in the Friday prayers.
The organizers of the Forum are the International Muslim Forum and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation; the co-organizers are the Department of Religious Affairs of Türkiye, the Organization for Culture and Islamic Relations of Iran, and the World Council of Muslim Communities.
