Armenian PM instructs his fellow "Westerners" to turn tables on Russia
REGION 22 December 2022 - 11:45
The Armenian Security Council secretary has said that Russia is responsible for the Lachin road's appropriate functioning, according to the Yerevan-based newspaper Past.
"Of course, this has long been nothing new: a number of ‘prominent’ members of the ‘Civil Contract’ [party] have repeatedly shifted the entire burden of Karabakh's security onto the Russians. The other day, this ‘flash mob’ was picked up by several leaders of parties known for their Westernizing, anti-Russian orientation, who regularly meet with [Prime Minister] Nikol Pashinyan as part of the ‘club of extra-parliamentary forces’,” Caliber.Az quotes the newspaper as saying.
It was the work of the party members Tigran Khzmalyan, David Sanasaryan, and Levon Shirinyan, who unanimously asserted that "Azerbaijan did not block the Lachin corridor, it was closed by the Russians", Past writes.
The newspaper assures that it previously had reason to write about this, but now new and remarkable details have been disclosed.
According to Yerevan’s officials, this is not at all amateurish and it was Pashinyan who instructed his extra-parliamentary colleagues to direct the "blame" exclusively towards the Russians in the issue of blocking the road linking Armenia with Karabakh, promising that this would soon be discussed in Azerbaijan as well.
Many experts point out that the purpose of all this is to finally discredit the activities of the Russian peacekeeping mission, and subsequently to call for the withdrawal of peacekeepers from Karabakh, and then the entire Russian contingent from Armenia.
“By the way, we should add that the leaders of the national-democratic ‘Bever’ party expressed a similar position during last week's rallies," the newspaper said.
