US keen on deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan

US intends to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan, Laura Lohman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy said at the South Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku.

She noted that President Joseph Biden supports the export of gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe, Azertag reports.

The US has supported and will continue to support the Southern Gas Corridor project to ensure the energy security of its European partners.

"The Southern Gas Corridor is a very important project for Europe, and Azerbaijan has a leading role to play in ensuring the continent's energy security. However, the Southern Gas Corridor plays an important role in strengthening not only European energy security but also political security. The project creates opportunities for cooperation among many countries, harnessing them for economic growth. The US will continue to support transportation of natural gas produced in the Caspian Sea to Europe and assist Azerbaijan," Laura Lohman said.

Laura Lohman also noted that taking into consideration environmental problems in the world, the US could invest in the production and export of green energy in Azerbaijan.
