Azerbaijani parliament joins aid campaign for Türkiye’s earthquake victims

Azerbaijan's parliament has started charity actions to support the victims of the earthquake in Türkiye.
The chairman of the parliament`s Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Tahir Mirkishili made the remarks at a meeting of the Committee on February 9, Trend reports.
"MPs and the parliament’s staff have joined the initiative of the parliament’s Speaker Sahiba Gafarova to provide aid to earthquake victims in Türkiye," he said.
Meanwhile, the Turkish news service Star reported that search and rescue efforts continue in Kahramanmarash after the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes, the epicentre of which was in the Pazarcik and Elbistan regions.
While search and rescue efforts are underway among the rubble of collapsed buildings in Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Gaziantep, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adiyaman, Osmaniye, Diyarbakir and Adana, which were most affected by the quake, encouraging news about survivors continues to pour in.
After being remained under the rubble for 77 hours in Adiyaman, a man, who is a victim of the Kahramanmaras earthquake, has been rescued. After a sound was heard from under the rubble of a house in Yenimahalle Umutkent, the rescuers’ efforts in the area intensified around 17 hours ago. After much effort, the teams managed to reach 36-year-old Yilmaz Cetin.
A woman trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in Adana was pulled out 75 hours after the earthquake. From under the rubble of the 12-storey Zerai building, located on Yurt Mahallesi Turgut Ozal Boulevard in the Cukurova district, the rescuer teams heard groans. Concentrating on this location, they released the woman after about half an hour of effort. The injured woman, whose name could not be ascertained but was said to be 48 years old, had been hospitalised.
Teams working on a collapsed building in Hatay's Odabasi district have reached 7-month-old Helen Initizanoglu. After 66 hours, baby Helen was rescued from under the rubble.
Seventy-six hours after the earthquake in Gaziantep, three people have been pulled out of the rubble. Three people have been found alive after long hours of work by teams. Ersin and Mustafa Tabur were pulled out of the rubble with injuries.
Little Ahmet Eren was rescued 71 hours after the earthquake wreckage. Ahmet Eren's first words touched everyone. These moments were shared by Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
"We saved our beautiful baby Ahmet Eren. His first words were, 'I have school tomorrow'... You are the future and hope of this country..."
A woman was rescued 72 hours after a flat collapsed in an earthquake in Diyarbakır's Baglar district. Crews who heard the sound from under the rubble, in the 5th micro-district of Merkez Baglar district, stepped up rescue efforts. As a result of actions taken by rescuers, 112 Emergency Health, police, gendarmerie and firefighters, Yazgul Cacan was rescued from under the rubble 72 hours after the earthquake.
A 20-year-old Abdullah has been rescued alive after 70 hours following an earthquake at the site of the debris of an eight-storey apartment building in Kirihan, Hatay.
Trapped among the rubble of a three-storey apartment building in Hatay's Antakya district after the Kahramanmaras earthquake, 79-year-old Hasan Yuge survived for 72 hours by wrapping pieces of cloth around his cold feet. The old man thanked the crews who rescued him and described the whereabouts of his grandson who was with him.
Yuge told the teams about his experience and described the whereabouts of his grandson who was with him: "I was cold, there's no stove. I have a grandson half a metre from where you found me. He was breathing, I don't know what happened next. Thank you." The search for his grandson continues.
