Azerbaijani, German officers mull strategic communications

Azerbaijani and German officers have met in Baku to discuss their experience in the sphere of strategic communication.

The working meeting with a group of German officers occurred as part of the "Negotiations on Cooperation" events between the Azerbaijani and German defence ministries. The sides focused on Germany’s strategic communications experience, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

The German officers were briefed at the meeting about the Azerbaijani ministry’s activities in the field of communications, including measures to combat information and psychological operations in the 44-day Patriotic War.

The guests gave briefings on strategic communications, including public relations organization and other topics.

The importance of such meetings and mutual visits in terms of exchanging experience in the field of communications was emphasised at the meeting.

The delegation members visited the Defence Ministry press office, Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC, Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and the Baku Media Centre. The guests were given detailed information about the work done in the military-patriotic field.

Azerbaijan and Germany have signed various agreements that cover different spheres of bilateral relations. The defence ministries of the two countries signed a document on military cooperation on March 9, 2006.

Germany recognised Azerbaijan's independence on January 12, 1992. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany were established on February 20, 1992. Azerbaijan opened its first embassy in Western Europe, in Germany on September 2, 1992, and Germany's embassy to Azerbaijan was opened on September 22, 1992.
