Armenian senior official calls ex-President Sargsyan's letter “cheap populist move”

    REGION  24 July 2023 - 13:22

Armenian former President Serzh Sargsyan's letter to the presidents of the United States, Russia and France was just a cheap attempt to pretend to be a patriot.

The remarks came from Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office on his Facebook page, Caliber.Az reports.

"It is at least naive to think that Biden, Putin and Macron learnt from Serzh Sargsyan's letter that the Lachin road is closed. Serzh Sargsyan's call to stop the ‘humanitarian catastrophe’ in Karabakh could have been welcomed if the content of the letter had not turned into gossip and an attempt at cheap domestic political speculation. Serzh Sargsyan's open letter to the presidents of the United States, Russia and France was just a populist move aimed at criticising the current Armenian government and appearing patriotic," Chakhoyan writes.
