Novelty of Turkish military-industrial complex: “BURÇ” anti-aircraft gun

The Turkish military-industrial firm Roketsan has developed a new mobile air defence system “BURÇ” at the expense of national resources.

The anti-aircraft missile gun system is equipped with a SUNGUR missile and a 20 mm 3-barrel automatic cannon, Caliber.Az reports, citing Twitter of SavunmaSanayiST.com.

The BURÇ system was developed by Roketsan's own forces for use in the air defence of mobile/stationary units and objects on the battlefield and in the rear, as well as military convoys on the march. The BURN ZRPK, which uses eight SUNGUR anti-aircraft missiles on two quadruple units as the main weapon, is equipped with a 20 mm three-barrel cannon as an auxiliary weapon.

The system, which has four AESA Hemisphere Defense radars, provides a complete peripheral security network with the ability to rotate the tower 360°. In addition to the possibility of providing data transmission with control and monitoring networks using the JREAP-C protocol, it can be integrated with the interface of the air defense early warning and control system [HERIKKS-6] and the "friend-foe" recognition equipment [IFF].

Besides the fact that the system can be used in conjunction with an external early warning network, it also provides multi-purpose usability for the user, since it can work independently with its own sensor systems.

The system, which provides protection against aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has a maximum effective firing range of 8 kilometres and a minimum of 500 metres due to SUNGUR anti-aircraft missiles and the ability to destroy targets at an altitude of 4 kilometres.
