Media: Armenian army moving towards unprofessionalism

The certification process conducted amid reforms in the Armenian Defence Ministry has created an unhealthy atmosphere in the country’s army, which may lead to a large outflow of personnel.

The certification has fairly high standards, where neither the serviceman's combat record, merits, age, nor the fact of belonging to the professional military plays a role, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper.

As reported, the certification consists of two parts: theoretical, professional tests and practical tasks - formation training, which not everyone can pass, some because of age, some because of combat injuries.

“As a result, they are cut off from certification, and real wages remain low, making it impossible to live with inflation. It has become known that in this unequal and unhealthy atmosphere, some have already resigned from the service, some are thinking of quitting, which may have dire consequences for the army," the newspaper writes.
