The recent information about the anti-state activities of a number of managers and employees of Abzas Media website is discussed in society. This is not surprising. The revealed facts about cooperation with anti-Azerbaijani forces for the sake of grants, about covering up anti-Azerbaijani activity with “concern for democracy”, forgery, and deception cause public indignation. Unity rather than the desire to be a servant of foreign masters is required amid dangerous external challenges and in resisting attempts to infringe on Azerbaijan in the international arena.
Caliber.Az appeals to the Azerbaijani MPs with a request to comment on the revealed facts regarding the creation of an agent network by Western centers in Azerbaijan.
“Unfortunately, the foreign anti-Azerbaijani circles are still interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. Each time this interference becomes more sophisticated. One such example is financial support for virtual information resources that promote ideas that run counter to Azerbaijan’s national interests,” a member of the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party, Aydin Mirzazada, said.
Mirzazada noted that under the guise of dealing with some social issues, they actually seek to undermine the faith of Azerbaijani citizens in their country and incline society towards goals that contradict state interests. The most important thing is that they try to hide their income, their sources, and who they work for.
“After the detention of these individuals, financially supported from abroad, a campaign was immediately launched to protect them. Non-governmental organisations, without providing any significant arguments, began to declare “oppression” of the free press in Azerbaijan. The fact that these media outlets are provided with unclear financial resources shows that there are plans to deliberately create a fifth column [people who are used to fulfill instructions in the interests of another country, they are used as a tool to achieve political goals that are alien to us], circles in Azerbaijan that will propagate the goals and ideology of the organisations that finance them. However, Azerbaijan is firmly committed to defending its national interests and will remove all opportunities for interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs,” he added.
Another Azerbaijani MP Fazail Agamali also expressed his opinion on this issue.
“We see that the individuals who betrayed Azerbaijan’s national interests have been detected. The US attitude shows that this country is again showing double standards in relation to Azerbaijan. Instead of establishing mutually beneficial cooperation, obviously under the influence of the Armenian lobby, the US is escalating tension in relations with Baku,” Agamali noted.
“Why is the US concerned about the denouncement of the representatives from the Azerbaijani little-known Abzas Media news website? This attempt, along with the announced intention to hold a meeting of former graduates of the US universities in Baku, gives reason to say that we are seeing links in one intelligence chain. There are hidden insidious plans against Azerbaijan behind all these attempts,” he noted.
“I think that this is all the machinations of the Armenian lobby in the US, which does not like the recent grandiose success of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people. Why doesn’t anyone say how these hundreds of thousands of dollars and euros appear? What should they have been spent for? I am sure that any attempt to harm Azerbaijan will be futile while all traitors to the national interests of the Azerbaijani people will be revealed and punished!” he added.
