Azerbaijan, China maintain friendly, partnership relations

Assistant to President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev in an interview with AZERTAC  has said that Azerbaijan and China maintain traditionally friendly and partnership relations.

He noted that at the meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Samarkand, strategic tasks were set related to achieving a qualitatively new level of relations between the two countries, defining new areas of cooperation. At present, the ties between the two countries have been comprehensively developed in this area. In general, the comprehensive development of ties, further deepening of relations with the People's Republic of China, and the achievement of a qualitatively new level of relations have been set as one of the priority areas.

The presidential aide said: "During the visit, we discussed with our Chinese counterparts the development of relations between the two countries, holding, first of all, political consultations, expanding trade and economic ties, as well as cooperation in the context of the Middle Corridor. The Middle Corridor has once again confirmed its importance in transportation and development of trade and economic relations at the international level. The Chinese side also shows great interest in this project".

Pointing out that Azerbaijan will hold the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change this year, Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan and China are developing countries representing the Global South. China has great experience in the field of "green energy". Detailed discussions on these issues were held at the meetings held in Beijing.

The official representative of the Presidential Administration said that Azerbaijan and China, which enjoy close relations, support each other within international organizations.
