Azerbaijan, Russia mull normalisation between Baku, Yerevan

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Galuzin have discussed issues of bilateral relations and prospects for normalisation between Baku and Yerevan.

"The state of and prospects for Russia-Azerbaijan relations were substantially discussed," says a statement by Russian Foreign Ministry on the results of the meeting in Moscow, Caliber.Az reports.

“Further joint steps to implement the provisions of the declaration on allied cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan of February 22, 2022 were discussed. A number of regional and international issues were touched upon, including the current state of affairs in the South Caucasus and prospects for Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation based on a set of trilateral agreements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the meeting was held "in a traditionally friendly and trusting atmosphere, corresponding to the spirit of Russian-Azerbaijani alliance and strategic partnership".
