Shelling damages almost 1,400 residential buildings in Russia's Belgorod

    REGION  30 March 2024 - 10:09

Russian Governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that since March 11, almost 1,400 residential properties have been damaged by AFU attacks in the region.

Interfax reports that according to Gladkov, this includes 333 flats in 25 apartment buildings and 1,031 private houses across 17 settlements in the district.

The most significant damage was reported in Mayskiy, Razumnoye, Novosadoviy, Tavrovo, Dubovoye, Oktyabrsky settlements, Belovskoye, and Nikolskoye villages.

As of now, 359 objects have been restored, out of the 690 damaged windows, 204 are currently being replaced.

However, due to the continuous shelling, new destructions are taking place, making it difficult to meet the deadlines for restoring the damaged housing.

Gladkov mentioned that they had a plan of seven days for restoration, but due to the increasing volume of work, they are not able to keep up with the deadlines. The primary focus now is to find resources to speed up the process of housing reconstruction.

The Belgorod region, including the regional centre and the adjacent district, has been experiencing intense attacks from the Ukrainian side recently, resulting in deaths and injuries. To ensure their safety, residents of the affected areas are being evacuated to shelters, and children are being taken to other regions of the Russian Federation.
