Armenian PM's Office: Catholicos misleads people on transfering Tovuzgala's territories to Azerbaijan
REGION 09 April 2024 - 17:54
Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office has said that the Mother See of Echmiadzin vehemently refuted claims regarding the transfer of territories in the Tovuzgala region to Azerbaijan, denouncing such assertions as false and aimed at misleading the public.
"The statement of the Mother See of Echmiadzin on the transfer of the territories of the Tovuzgala region to Azerbaijan is false and misleads the public. We believe that this is a clear forgery and we cannot agree with such manipulative statements of the Catholicos' party,” he wrote on his Facebook page, Caliber.Az reports.
"I am sorry that instead of inspiring and guiding their people during this difficult period, the spiritual fathers have taken the path of terror and misleading their own people by spreading misinformation for obvious political purposes.
The territories about which Azerbaijan speaks are not de jure territory of Armenia and never have been.
No one on the territory of Armenia has the right and cannot transfer or cede even 1 metre to another state.
All statements about the transfer or cession of territories of the Tavush region are lies, and those who disseminate these statements aim to drag Armenia into a new war, as Armenia has no territorial claims from other states," Chakhoyan writes.
