Azerbaijani defense minister meets commanders of Land Forces

A service meeting chaired by Azerbaijan's Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov was held at the headquarters of the Land Forces on April 20.

The event brought together Deputy Defence Minister - Commander of the Land Forces Lieutenant General Hikmat Mirzayev, heads of departments, commanders of formations and associations of the Army, the ministry told Caliber.Az.

Addressing the event, Minister Hasanov highlighted the tasks set by President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev before the Azerbaijani Army. The meeting analyzed the operational situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional border, combat training of military units and military discipline.

The minister gave instructions on improvement of service and combat activities, increased vigilance, constant readiness for accurate and timely fulfillment of combat tasks. The importance of special attention to material-technical and engineering support of units on duty in difficult terrain and high-mountainous areas, improvement of moral and psychological training of personnel.

Zakir Hasanov also set specific tasks on taking necessary measures in cooperation with specialized state structures for effective implementation of the process of delimitation of the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and ensuring security.

The Defence Minister also instructed to provide the necessary technical support for the transportation of personnel, ammunition and military equipment of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which was temporarily deployed in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and is currently leaving the country.
