Ammo explosion claims two lives in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan

A tragic explosion in the Sadarak region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has resulted in the loss of two lives.

According to a joint statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), the incident occurred on April 28 as a consequence of an explosion of ammunition fired by the Armenian Armed Forces into the territory of the village of Garaaghaj, Report informs.

The victims have been identified as Rzayev Vilayat Hasan oglu, born in 1951, and Aliyev Adyam Hasan oglu, born in 1970. Their lives were cut short due to this devastating event.

Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with employees of the prosecutor's office conducting thorough examinations and ordering appropriate forensic examinations. Other necessary procedural actions were also carried out as part of the investigation process.

The Sadarak district prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the explosion and to determine any possible culpability.

The tragedy underscores the constant threat posed by Armenian-laid landmines.

Recently, Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmat Hajiyev has said that almost every day Azerbaijani civilians become the victims of Armenia-planted landmines.

“Almost on a daily basis, Azerbaijani civilians face deadly 'remnants of war' - landmines implanted in millions by Armenia,” the official posted on his X account.
