Türkiye conducts nationwide anti-terror operation

Turkish security forces have conducted a large-scale operation, dubbed Operation Bozdoğan-31, across 40 provinces of the country.

The operation, aimed at dismantling the activities of extremist groups including the "Islamic State" and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), resulted in the detention of nearly 200 suspects, Caliber.Az reports.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the operation via his social media page, highlighting the extensive scope of the crackdown. Turkish police and gendarmerie units were deployed in various regions, with particular focus on provinces where terrorist activities were suspected.

Yerlikaya revealed that 38 suspects were apprehended in provinces such as Adana, Aydin, Çorum, Gaziantep, Kayseri, and Mersin. The operations in these areas yielded a significant haul of digital materials, as well as substantial amounts of foreign currency and Turkish lira, believed to be linked to illicit activities.

Furthermore, raids targeting the PKK were conducted in 34 provinces, including key metropolitan areas such as Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, and Istanbul, as well as regions in the eastern and southeastern parts of Türkiye. The coordinated efforts involved cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office, the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie, and the General Directorate of Security.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the success of these operations, which led to the detention of 147 individuals suspected of aiding or participating in PKK-related activities. The arrests signify a significant blow to the terrorist organization's network within the country.
