Romania, Moldova to cooperate during EU, NATO, OSCE, UN military operations

Romania and Moldova will mutually support each other during military operations under the auspices of the EU, NATO, the UN and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

A provision to this effect will be included in the intergovernmental agreement between the two countries on defence cooperation, TASS reports, referring to a memorandum adopted by the Romanian government.

According to a statement posted on the Romanian Cabinet website, the two sides "will support each other on conditions of reciprocity and based on available capabilities in everything related to the preparation and participation in missions and operations within multinational coalitions under the auspices of the UN, the OSCE, NATO or the EU, including in the fields of logistics, transport, telephone and internet communications, financial and medical support and emergency evacuation."

The memorandum provides for the negotiation and signing of a protocol to amend the agreement between the two governments on military cooperation, concluded in Chisinau on April 20, 2012, and amended on December 1, 2016.

"Support and services will be provided under the same conditions as to its own personnel involved in missions and operations outside the territories of the two states," the statement said.
