Azerbaijan to begin resettling people throughout Karabakh by late 2024

    KARABAKH  02 May 2024 - 10:56

Azerbaijani Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced People Fuad Huseynov has said that the resettlement process will begin in all territories liberated from occupation by late 2024.

“Some 20,000 people are planned to return to the liberated territories by late 2024,” Huseynov said in an interview with Xalq newspaper, Report informs.

“The resettlement process will cover 27 settlements, including 20 villages and seven cities. People will be resettled to Shusha, as well as to Khojaly, Jabrayil, Kalbajar and Zangilan soon. The process will cover all territories liberated from occupation by the end of the year,” he added.

The main objective of the First State Programme of the Great Return to the liberated Azerbaijani territories, approved by the president in November 2022, is to accelerate the creation of public utilities and social infrastructure, construction of housing, development of production and creation of new jobs for the rapid return of citizens of the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions.

About 3,500 flats and houses are planned to be built in the liberated territories by 2027, in which 34,500 families will be gradually settled.
