Peace prospects in South Caucasus open doors for Zangezur corridor - minister

In a panel discussion titled "Middle Corridor: Reshaping the Euro-Asia connectivity," held in Tbilisi, Finance Minister and Azerbaijan's manager at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Samir Sharifov, highlighted the potential emergence of the Zangezur corridor in the South Caucasus region once piece is achieved.

“When there is peace in the South Caucasus region, another important connection - Zangezur corridor - will emerge,” Report quotes Sharifov as saying.

"The Middle Corridor is not just a railway or road link. I would call it a branching corridor. Another branch of this corridor is the railway connection from Azerbaijan to Georgia, then across the Black Sea to Europe. I believe that now, when peace will inevitably come here, there will be an additional transport connection - the Zangezur corridor," he said.
