Official: Italy renders assistance to protect infrastructure in Caspian Sea

Vice-President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Giorgio Mulè has said that Italy renders assistance to protect infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.

“Italy has strong partnership relations with Azerbaijan, which are based on common values rather than on energy cooperation. The countries also plan to establish strong inter-parliamentary ties,” Mulè told Report.

“We are preparing a protocol on cooperation between the Italian and Azerbaijani parliaments. This morning we have spoken to the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament to renew our cooperation. We should protect the infrastructure on the Caspian Sea, and Italy is rendering assistance in this regard. Together with Azerbaijan, we strive to achieve peace in this region [South Caucasus] on the basis of mutual respect, which should be at least a precondition for reaching an agreement,” he said.
