Azerbaijani top diplomat, Russian presidential special rep mull cooperation, regional developments

On May 2, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, who is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the VI World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
The Foreign Ministry informed Caliber.Az that the meeting covered discussions on bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the current regional situation.
Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Russia's active participation and contribution to prestigious international events held in Azerbaijan, including the VI World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
It was emphasized that high-level dialogues between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia, along with intensive contacts, contribute significantly to the development of bilateral relations. The minister underscored the importance of sustaining bilateral cooperation within regional and international frameworks.
Regarding Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29, Jeyhun Bayramov discussed how this event will create new opportunities for cooperation.
Mikhail Shvydkoy was briefed on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period and the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the recent agreement between the delimitation commissions as a positive step within the peace agenda, affirming Azerbaijan's determination to achieve tangible results across all elements of the normalization process.
Mikhail Shvydkoy acknowledged the broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly education, culture, technology, and innovation, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in these areas.
Similarly, on May 2, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met Secretary General Siti Rosaimerianti of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-AIPA Inter-Parliamentary Assembly during her visit to Azerbaijan for the VI World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
The meeting focused on exploring cooperation between Azerbaijan and AIPA, preparations for COP29, and regional developments following the post-conflict period. Minister Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to inter-parliamentary dialogue and expressed interest in strengthening these ties with AIPA.
Discussions also covered Azerbaijan's preparations for COP29, regional realities post the 44-day conflict, reconstruction efforts in liberated territories, mine clearance, and the normalization process with Armenia.
Secretary General Siti Rosaimerianti, visiting Azerbaijan for the first time, highlighted the significance of intercultural dialogue initiatives and emphasized the importance of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation further.
