Russian opposition party hails Azerbaijani national leader’s merits

    POLITICS  09 May 2024 - 14:27

Head of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, chairman of the LDPR party Leonid Slutsky has said that Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev laid a foundation of modern Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is developing along the path which Heydar Aliyev laid down,” he said, Report informs.

“We traditionally celebrate the birthday of the great son of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of modern Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. He did a lot. We have recently celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the construction of which is connected with Heydar Aliyev,” he said.

The MP expressed confidence that Heydar Aliyev would be proud of his son, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who fulfilled the behests of his great father.

“Ilham Aliyev turned Azerbaijan into one of the most prosperous countries, returned Karabakh, which was a bleeding wound not only for Azerbaijanis, but also for all those in whose heart and soul, like me, Azerbaijan lives,” he said.

“It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this historic victory. Today Azerbaijan is restoring Karabakh. Dozens of infrastructurally significant projects and programmes are being implemented through high technologies. Many projects are being implemented together with Russia and our cooperation and fraternal relations are becoming stronger every year,” Slutsky said.
