Washington wants to strengthen support for Yerevan

    REGION  23 May 2024 - 10:16

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that the United States was considering a "series of requests" to Armenia, determining steps Washington can take to strengthen support for Yerevan.

“We are reviewing a series of requests from Armenia to determine what more we can do to strengthen our support and cooperation with Armenia,” the US diplomacy chief said at a hearing of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, without going into any details,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

At the same time, Blinken recalled that in early April his joint meeting with the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan took place in Brussels. These consultations, according to the head of the foreign policy department, were held precisely in order to find out what else the United States and the EU can do to support Armenia. “And we will move forward in a number of different areas,” Blinken promised.

The secretary of state also expressed hope that Azerbaijan and Armenia will sign a peace treaty.
