Three trucks transporting transit goods via China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia route

    ECONOMICS  24 May 2024 - 16:28

For the first time in history, goods are transited along the China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia route through the seaports of Kuryk and Baku as part of a test regime.

The first three Chinese trucks weighing 80 tons, leaving the city of Urumqi, passed along the transit route as part of the meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Commission on Motor Transport, Caliber.Az reports citing the Kazakh Transport Ministry.

The trucks were loaded onto a ferry at the Kuryk port in the city of Aktau on May 23, 2024 to continue moving along the China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia route.

“For the first time in history, vehicle drivers of the two countries are able to directly travel to all major trading cities of these countries and even transit goods through the territories of these countries,” Chairman of the Road Transport and Transport Control Committee of the Kazakh Transport Ministry Ali Altai said.

He noted that today hundreds of millions of tons of cargo from China to Western countries are supplied by sea, within up to 52 days, a smaller volume of cargo is supplied by railway - up to 22 days.

“Transportation by vehicles can reduce this period to 12 days by delivering cargo door-to-door without intermediate loading/unloading,” he added.
