Erdogan asserts Türkiye's stand against terrorist threats near southern borders

During the EFES-2024 exercise in Türkiye, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the manoeuvres aren't directed at any specific nation but rather focus on peacekeeping operations.

"The Turkish Armed Forces’ EFES-2024 exercises are not aimed at any country. They are conducted in a common scenario centred on peacekeeping operations," the Turkish leader said, as per Anadolu.

The president also reiterated Türkiye's determination to counter the terrorist threat to its security emanating from northern Syria and Iraq.

He noted that Ankara is "closely following the aggressive actions of the terrorist organisation (PKK-YPG) against the territorial integrity of Turkey and Syria under the pretext of the referendum."

The politician stressed that Türkiye will never allow the separatist organisation (PKK-YPG) to establish a terrorist state near its southern borders - northern Syria and Iraq.

"Türkiye does not bow to any threats when it comes to its territorial integrity and the security of its people. As before, we are ready to take decisive measures in the fight against terrorism without hesitation," he emphasised.

He added that Ankara is "well aware of what they want to achieve and the game they are playing in the region with the help of the ISIS terrorist organisation."

"We will not fall for these tricks," the president said.
