EU imposes sanctions against Russian journalist

The European Union (EU) has imposed sanctions against the CEO and president of the News Media publishing house Aram Gabrelyanov.

The EU has blacklisted the creator of the Life project and CEO of the News Media publishing house Aram Gabrelyanov, TASS reports, citing the resolution published in the "Official journal of the EU".

The document claims that Gabrelyanov, with the help of the media group, "spread aggressive propaganda, fakes and disinformation." "Gabrelyanov supports and carries out actions that undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine," the text claims.

The EU Council approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, which will come into force later today following publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. For the first time, the EU imposed restrictions on Russian gas exports: it is allowed to supply gas to EU countries, but the transit of Russian LNG through ports and terminals of EU countries to third countries will be prohibited, this provision will come into force in nine months.

European businesses are also banned from using the Central Bank's SPFS system. The package includes restrictions on access to Russian media, new technological and export restrictions, a blacklist of 116 people, whose names will be announced later, although European media have already reported that the list includes singer Polina Gagarina for concerts in new regions of the Russian Federation.

The EU also imposed a number of "luxury bans", including a ban on flights on private jets to resorts in the EU.
