President Aliyev receives Italian-made military transport aircraft C-27J Spartan

President Ilham Aliyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received a ceremonial presentation of a "C-27J Spartan" military transport aircraft at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Caliber.Az reports.

The aircraft, manufactured by the Italian aerospace company "Leonardo," was showcased during the event, which included the participation of high-ranking officials from Italy.

Among them were Guido Crosetto, the Defense Minister of Italy, Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Stefano Pontecorvo, Chairman of "Leonardo".

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.

The head of state was informed about the tactical and technical characteristics, operation, and other indicators of the aircraft. The aircraft is capable of performing both defense and civil defense missions in complex geographical terrain and operational conditions.

The C-27J Spartan aircraft will be used for military transport, airdrops of paratroopers and cargo, as well as medical missions.

The presentation highlighted Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to enhance its military capabilities through international partnerships and advanced technology acquisitions.

The C-27J Spartan is a tactical military transport aircraft known for its versatility in transporting cargo and troops, performing amphibious operations, medical evacuations, and humanitarian missions. It is highly manoeuvrable, rugged, and capable of operating from short and unprepared runways. The aircraft is equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems, making it suitable for various warfighting missions.
