Zelenskyy urges swift end to conflict amid rising casualties

Ukraine seeks to end the conflict as soon as possible, as there are many wounded and dead among its servicemen, the country's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said upon arrival at the European Union summit.

"We have to put this plan [of settlement] on the table within a few months. We don't have much time because we have many wounded and killed on the battlefield. So we don't want this war to go on for years. So we want to prepare this peace plan for the second summit," Zelenskyy said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine has not had any contacts with the Russian Federation after the conference in Switzerland, where several countries said it was necessary to discuss a settlement with Moscow.

"I had no dialogue with them during this time. If it happens in the shadows, in secret, it's not about us. We want to do it openly," he noted.
