Ukraine, EU ink security agreement

Ukraine and the EU have entered into a security agreement.

On June 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a security agreement with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel, Caliber.Az reports citing the Ukrainian media.

According to the agreement, Kyiv will continue to receive weapons, Ukrainian servicemen will undergo training, and additional security assistance will be provided over the coming years. Ukraine also entered into security agreements with Estonia and Lithuania.

The agreement was signed during the two-day EU summit held in Brussels, focusing on the conflict in Ukraine and related issues. According to the security agreement between the EU and Ukraine, in case of "new aggression against Ukraine," Kyiv and Brussels will conduct "urgent consultations within 24 hours" to assess Ukraine's specific requirements.

The exact budget for these programmes has not yet been finalised. The agreement is set for a duration of 10 years.
