Putin orders production of new missiles in response to US deployments

Vladimir Putin, during a Security Council meeting, announced Russia's decision to initiate the production of land-based medium- and short-range missiles in response to actions taken by the United States.

The move comes amid concerns over US deployments of similar missile systems, including in the Philippines, Caliber.Az reports citing the Kremlin's official website.

Putin underscored the need for a strategic response, stating, "We need to react to this and make decisions on what steps we will take in this direction." He emphasized the importance of Russia's security interests in deciding where these missile systems would potentially be deployed.

The Russian President pointed out that while the US is actively producing and deploying such missiles, Russia must also develop its capabilities to ensure national security. Putin's announcement reflects Russia's stance on strategic parity and readiness to respond to perceived threats posed by US missile deployments outside its borders.

This development highlights ongoing geopolitical tensions and Russia's proactive stance in asserting its strategic interests amidst evolving global military dynamics.
