FM Lavrov states Russia open to dialogue with West
Calls for end to threats

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has declared that Russia is willing to engage in dialogue with unfriendly countries, provided that there are no threats emanating from the West.

During the "Primakov Readings", Lavrov emphasized that the European Union (EU) could play a pivotal role in the emerging multipolar world if it reconsiders its current stance, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

This statement follows NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's recent assertion that the conflict in Ukraine will likely conclude with peace talks, with a need to strengthen Kyiv's position beforehand.

Lavrov warned that if the condition of no threats from the West is disregarded, the EU risks being marginalized in global development.

He also advocated for a reformation of the United Nations, suggesting a shift in the balance of power from the dominance of Western countries to greater inclusion of representatives from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Russian diplomat further noted that the BRICS coalition (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) could spearhead new integration efforts within the Eurasian region, potentially reshaping the global power structure.
