Majority of voters favor replacing Biden as Democratic candidate

A recent Morning Consult poll indicates that 60 per cent of voters believe President Biden should "definitely" or "probably" be replaced as the Democratic candidate following his performance on June 27 debate.

This sentiment is reflected among Democratic circles discussing the possibility of finding a new candidate, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

Among Democratic voters, 21 per cent firmly oppose replacing Biden, while 20 per cent are inclined to keep him as the candidate. When pitted against former President Trump, 45 per cent of respondents preferred Biden, while 44 per cent chose Trump.

These results are consistent with a previous poll taken after Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts, suggesting that Biden has not lost any immediate ground to Trump. Despite this, 57 per cent of debate viewers felt Trump outperformed Biden, including 19 per cent of Democrats, 60 per cent of Independents, and 93 per cent of Republicans.

Biden campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster criticized the interpretation of the poll results, emphasizing that Biden still leads Trump by a point and asserting that "Joe Biden is not dropping out."

The poll, conducted through online interviews, was weighted to reflect a representative sample of registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.
