Türkiye apprehends, deports PKK/KCK women's wing leader in Mardin

Türkiye’s security forces, in an intelligence-based operation, apprehended and deported Zozan Baransson, a so-called leader of the PKK/KCK's women's wing in the southeastern Mardin province.

In a joint operation, the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and Mardin's Provincial Gendarmerie Command arrested Baransson in the Nusaybin district, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.

Baransson had been under long-term surveillance for her alleged terrorist activities. Following her arrest, she was taken into custody and subsequently deported. The MIT continues its operations against members of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization.

Baransson reportedly denied any connections to the PKK/KCK or participation in its activities during her detention. She was also part of a group that organized protests in Sweden against the country’s NATO membership.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants, in its nearly 40-year terror campaign against Türkiye.
