Pentagon awards Lockheed Martin multimillion-dollar contract for ATACMS missiles

The US Department of Defence has entered into a contract with Lockheed Martin, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, for the production of Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) guided missiles.

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $226,850,900 hybrid contract to manufacture these tactical missiles, Caliber.Az reports citing a statement published on the Pentagon's website.

The missiles are slated for delivery to Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Morocco.

The Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) is a surface-to-surface missile system developed and produced by Lockheed Martin for the United States Army. It is designed for precision strikes against high-value targets at ranges beyond the reach of most conventional artillery systems.

Over time, ATACMS has undergone upgrades to enhance its capabilities, including improvements in guidance systems and warhead technology.

ATACMS remains a critical component of the US Army's arsenal and is valued for its long-range precision strike capabilities.
