Georgia seeks to mend relations with US

Georgian authorities have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their strategic partnership, friendship, and cooperation with the United States.

It follows from Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's statement on X (formerly Twitter) in celebration of US Independence Day, Caliber.Az reports.

"Congratulations to our American friends and partners on Independence Day! As we celebrate this day, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Georgia and the US and further fostering the ties of friendship and cooperation between Georgia and the United States," Kobakhidze wrote.

Relations between Georgia and the US, along with the EU, have been strained following the Georgian parliament's passage of a law on foreign agents in May this year. In response, the US State Department imposed visa sanctions on dozens of Georgian citizens, including government members, parliamentarians, their relatives, and law enforcement officials.
