Margo’s itching for “Russian Karabakh”

The meeting between Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan hosted by the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel in Brussels on April 6, and as its logical continuation, a speech at the National Assembly by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on April 13, during which he announced the need for an early signing of a peace treaty with Baku, served as the etiology of severe itching in some Russian propagandists of predominantly Armenian origin. The greatest discomfort from this itch in her entire body, which she recently likes to compare with Kim Kardashian, was experienced by the manager of one of the largest propaganda machines in Russia, Margarita Simonyan.

I won’t discover America if I say that for many years Simonyan’s position has caused disgust and anger among ordinary Armenians, since, on the one hand, she demonstrates with enviable persistence her non-participation in Armenianism (let’s recall her words: “My Motherland is Russia, and I cannot have another), but on the other hand, her efforts to ascribe herself to Armenianism are noticeable when it plays into her hands. But even among adequate Russians, the personality of Margarita Simonyan, her desire to look more Russian than the Russians themselves, often causes ridicule. However, this does not prevent Margo from continuing to follow a radical chauvinist line at all, allowing herself (or through the resources supervised by her) to deliver a blow not only to those hostile to Russia, but also the states quite friendly to Moscow, including Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

It’s clear that Simonyan is a representative of that part of Russian society that dreams of the restoration of the Russian Empire or, at least, the creation of the geopolitical project "USSR 2.0.". These dreams have led them into the grip of international isolation, but, as they say, the down-and-out trouble started. Well, what kind of empire, in their opinion, without growing into new lands? Crimea is not enough for them. They need Donetsk with Lugansk, and Abkhazia with the Tskhinvali region of Georgia. They are not averse to hiding their greed for the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, precisely, the part of it that is temporarily monitored by the Russian peacekeepers. The post and comment of Margarita Simonyan on her Telegram channel are namely from this series of dreams. So, she shared a photo with the letter Z reflecting a Russian flag, which has become a symbol of aggression, laid out at the so-called “We and Our Mountains” monument in the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi. She accompanied her post with the comment: “It is beautiful in Stepanakert [the Armenian name of Khankendi]. Thanks". It was not a bolt from blues that her Armenian followers of the pro-Russian mindset immediately popped up in comments. One of them, the Karabakh Armenian Bella Avanesyan, outpaced all to voice her dream: “We hope someday we will also become part of the Russian Federation.” And a few hours later, Simonyan came up to dream out even louder: “And I hope.”

It is clear that Simonyan began to actively whip up the issue of “Russian Karabakh”, since her curators, and she understands that Aliyev and Pashinyan, through the mediation of the West, can agree to finally turn the page of the conflict without Moscow’s direct participation in the process. And a certain part of the Moscow elite is floating a trial balloon to add the part of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, which is temporarily monitored by the Russian peacekeepers, to the list of so-called “gray zone” similar to "LDNR" or "South Ossetia". And then the already familiar scenario jumps in - "Russia, help", "Russia, incorporate us." As they say, they saw it, they went through it. And yes, ahead of possible objections, let's say that Simonyan is not an ordinary person, but the head of a large propaganda company closely affiliated with the Kremlin. And she does not hide these connections. Therefore, we will not pretend that we know nothing about these connections.

The leader of the remnants of the Armenian gangs in Karabakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, who, after Pashinyan’s recent speech at the National Assembly began urgent consultations with his accomplices under “public pressure”, is trying to follow the same path. Although it would have been a smarter move from his side to “lie low in Khankendi”, not to make unnecessary gestures - after all, with each new provocation, the underdogs in Karabakh only march closer to their end. Which, at best, implies a courtroom dock. At worst (for them) - a shot in the back of the head.

As for the itching of Margarita Simonyan, only one thing here is crystal clear - Azerbaijan did not allow the creation of a second Armenian state on its territory, and will not even allow the start of attempts to play the “LDNR” card there. Baku has built quite strong relations with both the leadership of Russia and Turkey (enough to recall the Moscow and Shusha declarations) to block the possible encroachments of the supporters of the “Russian world in Karabakh” politically and diplomatically. Moreover, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are completely ready and practically proved their capacity for conducting special operations to neutralize the remaining hotbeds of separatism, and if there is such a political decision, the military task will be completed in the shortest possible time - before any fake "declaration" of the separatists is adopted. The frantic, thoughtless jingoistic patriotism in the style of Simonyan threw Russia into the 51st day of the hardest war since the mid-1940s, which Margot and her colleagues in the propaganda workshop loudly promised to carry out in a couple of days, proudly replicating the schedule of the Russian paratroopers to take Kyiv within a day. Better read the Moscow Declaration, where the rules and principles on which Russia and Azerbaijan build their relations are spelled out in black and white. And don't try to create problems where they don't exist yet.
