Armenian minister not against Azerbaijan’s Karabakh
REGION 16 April 2022 - 18:20
A quite remarkable interview with the Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan was published on the “Hraparak” website on April 16 amid the ongoing events in Armenia. Hraparak’s correspondent Vahe Makaryan who clearly sympathizes with the "former revanchists" and their allies, tried to find out the minister's position on the recent speech made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the National Assembly dedicated to the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan.
The author's preamble to the interview should be considered in the same context. Avanesyan, whose cousin died in Shusha during the 44-day Karabakh war, said everything except giving concrete answers to questions about whether she is against Karabakh becoming part of Azerbaijan. Indeed, despite the journalist's attempts to annoy the respondent with provocative questions, Avanesyan did not say whether she was against Karabakh being part of Azerbaijan.
“Can you refute that the Armenian authorities will never recognize Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan?” the journalist asked.
"I have always stood for the establishment of peace in the region not only today but for many years. I reiterate that Armenia, we, me, all my brothers, and my husband were on the battlefield during the 44-day war. My brother died while approaching Shusha, defending the right to live on that land. This is an obligation that we all have towards our martyrs. I think I've answered your question” the minister answered.
