Another Armenian-French provocation in Karabakh under preparation
    Caliber.Az signals to Russian peacekeepers

Do you remember the Azerbaijani-Russian-French scandal that broke out in December 2021 after French presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse illegally visited Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region?
Baku reacted rather harshly to Pécresse's adventure. Chargé d'affaires of France in Azerbaijan was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. A note of protest was handed over to him. The representatives of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that this step taken by a group of politicians from France, directed against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, harmed the Azerbaijan-France bilateral relations, and this also caused great damage to France reputation in the region.

Someone who is unaware about the vicissitudes of the Karabakh settlement may wonder if Pécresse is a French citizen, then Baku's dissatisfaction with Paris is obvious. However what role does Russia play? How did the Russian side get involved in the scandal with the illegal trip of the French presidential candidate? Let's explain.
The fact is that Pécresse traveled to the zone of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region in which Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made a very clear statement on this issue, stating in an interview with local channels on January 12, 2022 that whenever such illegal trips are made, claims are officially expressed to the Russian side.
“Our defense minister has repeatedly sent letters to his colleague, complaints are expressed to the head of the peacekeeping mission,” the Azerbaijani president said. “Similar steps were taken in connection with the recent illegal trip of Valérie Pécresse.”

“We were told that they did not see, they did not know, they did not notice, she was in an ordinary car and so on,” the president added. “Of course, everything sounds unconvincingly. An end must be put to this.”

“As far as I know, Armenian representatives who come to Karabakh region appeal to the peacekeeping mission in connection with the trips of foreign citizens,” the president said. “Permission is either given or it is not given.”

However, the passionate love of French politicians for Armenians and the myth about reunification [an idea based on the demand of the Armenians of Nagorno—Karabakh region for the Armenian-populated Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region to join Armenia] propagandized by them still complicate the Azerbaijan-France relations, and at the same time the Azerbaijan-Russia ones amid the Russian peacekeepers’ presence in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region.
Thus, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo (a passionate admirer of everything Armenian, however, this did not save her from disgrace in the first round of the presidential elections, in which she received ridiculous 1.75 percent of the votes) received a delegation of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France on the occasion of the "107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide" on April 22.
The statements were made about the "great moment of remembrance" and so on at a meeting at the Paris City Hall. However, we don't care much about it. If the French people feel comfortable among Armenian lies, then this is their choice and their right. However, Hidalgo's words concerning Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region attracted our attention.

The mayor reminded that the Paris City Hall confirmed readiness to recognize the "independence" of Karabakh and expressed a desire to raise the issue of rendering financial assistance to war veterans having psychological trauma. While concluding her speech, Hidalgo announced her upcoming visit to Armenia and Karabakh region.

Apparently, having lost her dream of the highest state position for the next 5 years, Hidalgo still does not give up hopes of gaining the Armenian citizens’ support at least at the level of municipal elections in Paris, and therefore she is preparing for a provocative trip to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region.
It is necessary to draw the attention of the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh to Hidalgo’s intentions. As for Pécresse, we remember that the Russian peacekeepers made excuses that they allegedly did not know and did not see anything although Pécresse is not invisible.
Therefore, given the previous incident when Russian peacekeepers did not notice Pécresse, Caliber.Az decided to get ahead of events. The Russian peacekeepers should remember that the Lachin corridor is not a public thoroughfare, and foreigners can enter the Karabakh region only through Baku’s consent. The Russian peacekeepers should always remember this not to come up with excuses later, in which few people believe. Forewarned is forearmed.
